The Charles and Ray Eames House and Studio, also known as Case Study House No. 8, in Los Angeles was a major topic of research and study. Beginning with accessing basic documentation to further develop a comprehensive digital model, this project focused on exemplifying the narrative existent in the architecture - thematically, structurally, programatically - in drawing. This drawing is made of three major components. The top component of the drawing emphasizes the importance of structure in the design, as a large factor in framing and supporting elements that make this project a well-known modern marvel. The middle component allows for a deeper thematic understanding of the design, as materiality, shadow, and comprehensive views of both the interior and exterior are provided. The bottom component focuses on qualifying the program - an especially pertinent task considering the building’s purpose as both a residence and studio. The drawing, as a whole, posits a variety of aspects and systems that have intertwined and contributed to make the whole.
